why hello again.

4 Jun

Pulling all-nighters create one to think… Like, “What ever happened to that blog i had with the cool bird background?”

why hello – here you are.

Is it wrong that I’m bringing it back? I don’t think so.

Life could not be more exciting for me right now. Newly Married – New Job – New Adventures.

My goal is that on “Darla Days” I will blog. I will write what is going on and more importantly what the Lord is showing me.
I don’t care who reads this or who ever read this page, but what I know is that writing and blogging makes me think & also holds me accountable.

It’s exciting and it’s coming back better than ever.

So, get ready for the most confused blog around the block. One with posts about who-the-heck-knows-what, cause that’s the kinda girl I am.

But for now, peace out as we head to the city of “Brotherly Love” for a quick hello.

Lord, I’m a Firework…

25 Aug

I wanna be like a firework… Fireworks go off when? At night. They light up the sky and people can’t help but notice them. When people notice a firework, they don’t envy them and wish they were the firework, but either they admire them (they watch them, take photos, and just enjoy the fireworks) or the hate them (because they’re loud, annoying, and too much). But in a matter of 5, 10, 15 minutes… The fireworks are done. They’re over. That’s it. And all people have are a picture left in their memory.

So how does that apply to a Christian’s life???

We are called to be a light in this dark, dark world we live in. We go through life and as we walk, we hit issues, dilemmas, change, growth, etc. and each time the Lord should be booming through! When people see us, they shouldn’t wish they were us, but wish that they had what was giving us such joy and satisfaction. But people either listen and accept, or they reject the Lord but will always remember that they had heard His name. We don’t have forever… Our lives are a vapor, so we have to work hard and work now, because before we know it, our life will have that last boom, our show will end, and we will be looking in the face of our Savior.

So… How are we going to BOOM?

A Woman of God

The Woman Who Fears the Lord

10 An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels.

11 The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain.

12 She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life.

13 She seeks wool and flax, and works with willing hands.

14 She is like the ships of the merchant; she brings her food from afar.

15 She rises while it is yet night and provides food for her household and portions for her maidens.

16 She considers a field and buys it; with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard.

17 She dresses herself with strength and makes her arms strong.

18 She perceives that her merchandise is profitable. Her lamp does not go out at night.

19 She puts her hands to the distaff, and her hands hold the spindle.

20 She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy.

21 She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household are clothed in scarlet.

22 She makes bed coverings for herself; her clothing is fine linen and purple.

23 Her husband is known in the gates when he sits among the elders of the land.

24 She makes linen garments and sells them; she delivers sashes to the merchant.

25 Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.

26 She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.

27 She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.

28 Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:

29 “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.”

30 Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

31 Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates.

Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary

“This is the description of a virtuous woman of those days, but the general outlines equally suit every age and nation. She is very careful to recommend herself to her husband’s esteem and affection, to know his mind, and is willing that he rule over her. 1. She can be trusted, and he will leave such a wife to manage for him. He is happy in her. And she makes it her constant business to do him good. 2. She is one that takes pains in her duties, and takes pleasure in them. She is careful to fill up time, that none be lost. She rises early. She applies herself to the business proper for her, to women’s business. She does what she does, with all her power, and trifles not. 3. She makes what she does turn to good account by prudent management. Many undo themselves by buying, without considering whether they can afford it. She provides well for her house. She lays up for hereafter. 4. She looks well to the ways of her household, that she may oblige all to do their duty to God and one another, as well as to her. 5. She is intent upon giving as upon getting, and does it freely and cheerfully. 6. She is discreet and obliging; every word she says, shows she governs herself by the rules of wisdom. She not only takes prudent measures herself, but gives prudent advice to others. The law of love and kindness is written in the heart, and shows itself in the tongue. Her heart is full of another world, even when her hands are most busy about this world. 7. Above all, she fears the Lord. Beauty recommends none to God, nor is it any proof of wisdom and goodness, but it has deceived many a man who made his choice of a wife by it. But the fear of God reigning in the heart, is the beauty of the soul; it lasts for ever. 8. She has firmness to bear up under crosses and disappointments. She shall reflect with comfort when she comes to be old, that she was not idle or useless when young. She shall rejoice in a world to come. She is a great blessing to her relations. If the fruit be good, the tree must have our good word. But she leaves it to her own works to praise her. Every one ought to desire this honour that cometh from God; and according to this standard we all ought to regulate our judgments. This description let all women daily study, who desire to be truly beloved and respected, useful and honourable. This passage is to be applied to individuals, but may it not also be applied to the church of God, which is described as a virtuous spouse? God by his grace has formed from among sinful men a church of true believers, to possess all the excellences here described.” (http://www.christnotes.org/commentary.php?b=20&c=31&com=mhc)

Ladies, and men, let us be one who fears God and does these things.

Be encouraged! (Redeem the Time!)

Not to be Preaching or Anything…

1 Corinthians 2:2 says, “For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.”

Christ was beaten, spat on, mocked, and left to die, hanging, on a cross. This is a horrid site to picture in one’s mind. I’d really rather not imagine a man who is bloody, naked, and left to die the most painful and humiliating death one could at that time. Just looking at Christ being killed, people would say that He is not a powerful God, but…

He rose! On the third day, post His death, Jesus Christ rose from His grave! Now, that’s not powerful?
Christ has come, He was sent, to live on earth, as a human in a fleshly body; He did not sin though!

We are to have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16b) and die to ourselves daily, so that we may decrease and He may increase (John 3:30). “For we have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loves me and gave Himself for me (Galatians 2:20).”

Today, in the midst of conversation about the Bible, someone said that Christ died to Himself as He died on the cross. He may not have wanted to go through with all of that pain and suffering, He may not have wanted to live on this earth for that purpose, and He may have felt like He had so much more He wanted to do before dying. But… He died. He died to Himself. He let His Father, God, take over and fulfill the plan that He created.

Christ, in a sense, died to His fleshly body and let God reign. How much MORE of a testimony is that for you and I?! He lived a perfect life on earth and is now ruling all of the heavens.

This concept is something I feel like I’ve learned a trillion times, but it’s something that I believe I’m never going to be able to learn fully. Basically though, the bottom line is that I want to be a girl who is know as a Christian. I want to be seen and have people question why I’m different then everyone else that’s my age. I want to go out into all the earth and tell others of the cross and what is has done for my life. The cross has saved me!
John 3:16 is a verse that almost everyone knows, it says, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” … “For God so LOVED the WORLD, that He GAVE His ONLY Son, that WHOEVER BELIEVES in Him should NOT PERISH, BUT have ETERNAL LIFE.”

My last few words before ending this post is: Be a light in this world. Be respectful. Show God’s love in your life. Learn how to die to self, like Christ has also sort of done. Point to the cross. Give Him all the glory and praise!

When a Song turns into a Prayer.

“Lord, Build Your kingdom here, Let the darkness fear, Show Your mighty hand, Heal our streets and land, Set Your church on fire, Win this nation back, Change the atmosphere, Build Your kingdom here, We pray.”

Where Is Your Heart?

5 Nov

Dear fellow believers in Christ,

Do you know how easy is it for me to do “good works” for the Lord, but really do it for selfish pride and glory? Do you know how easy is it to say I am a Christian and not tell others how they too can receive the unending love and peace that Christ has given me?
As long as there is people going to Hell, I should be fired up and willing to do something about it!
Think of the unsaved people in our lives. I so often just pray and ask God to open doors to minister to them, but then when I am given the open door, I do nothing about it!
The Lord says, that “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few”. He is sending us as lambs in the midst of wolves. Goodness, that doesn’t sound at all pleasing to the normal person. If I was a lamb, I would not want to be anywhere around a wolf. The wolf, would tear me to pieces in a heartbeat! But ” The LORD is my shepherd”. He is going to protect me. He is the reason I look as a lamb to those wolves, because if I wasn’t sent out by Him, I too would look like a wolf.

As I read the Bible, I continue to see repentance.  I am to daily repent. I am to daily surrender. I want the Lord Jesus Christ to change my heart, to transform me. What does that look like? My heart… I need to give my heart, my full heart, to God. He is the only one that can change me. I am a sinner and I need to be changed by Him.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”. God sent His son, Jesus Christ, to be born of a virgin, so that I, Darla Maxine, can live, ETERNALLY, with Him, in heaven! How crazy is that?! He has given me that gift. What do I have to give to him? Nothing. I look at the poor woman in Mark 12, she came and gave her last few cents to the Lord, which others looked at as small and useless, but the Lord took it and knew that she was giving her all to Him. When I come to the Lord, I am poor. I have nothing to give, but myself, and that’s all I need. That’s all He wants. That is something that means than gold or silver. It’s my heart.
“She out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”. Look at the past tense… The word, HAD. What do I have that I should not? What do I HAVE, that I should make HAD?

Just tonight, I watched a documentary film on Keith Green. Ever heard of him? This guy not only has an awesome testimony in his love for God, but listening to his music is so encouraging! It’s a mixture of scripture, prayers, and Truth.
Wow… I’ve been listening to him for the past 40-60 minutes and I am just so overwhelmed by the Lord Jesus Christ.

He wrote this song called, Make my life a prayer to You. As I read these words, I have a hard time truly praying them. I want to do all of those things and I believe everything in this song, but it is so deep and true. I want to die to self, daily, and live for my Savior.
As you read these lyrics, please take them to heart. Apply them to your life. If we all join in as one body in Christ with the same heart to serve Him, what great fruit will bear!

Make my life a prayer to You
I wanna do what You want me to
No empty words and no white lies
No token prayers no compromise

I wanna shine the light You gave
Thru Your Son You sent to save us
From ourselves and our despair
It comforts me to know You’re really there

Well I wanna thank You now
For being patient with me
Oh it’s so hard to see
When my eyes are on me
I guess I’ll have to trust
And just believe what You say
Oh you’re coming again
Coming to take me away

I wanna die and let You give
Your life to me so I might live
And share the hope You gave me
The love that set me free

I wanna tell the world out there
You’re not some fable or fairy tale
That I’ve made up inside my head
You’re God the Son and You’ve risen from the dead

I wanna die and let You give
Your life to me so I might live
And share the hope You gave me
The love that set me free

(I don’t know who reads this and who doesn’t, but if you’re reading this today and you are saved, but aren’t living like you are, I encourage you to give your heart back to the Lord! And if you’re reading this today and you are totally lost and have never given your life to the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who can save YOU from perishing for all eternity, then please either call me, text me, email me, Facebook message me, anything! Or get connected with your local church! Please, Please, Please!)
