The Resistance

The Resistance

I was born into a system constructed for failure
It’s a sinking ship manned by drunken sailors
An escape artist behind the bars of a jailor
An asthmatic attack when we forgot the inhaler
If the shoe doesn’t fit what good is a tailor
In the midst of a crisis please cancel the gala
Without a symphony there’s no need for a prelude
To foreshadow what’s to come.
See the secret committees, commence with their meetings
To make red tape in response to simple questions
Questions threaten the perception of the beneficial systems
A pyramid scheme with it’s cogs and it’s pistons
Mechanization of men, making more and more
Live in a miserable exhistance
How can so few, claim so many victims
And this begs the question
My rest is a weapon against the oppression
Of mans obsession to control things
Look at the long line of make believe kings
The lord of the flies want’s you to kiss his ring
Follow new rules with invisible strings
And become a puppet in the diabolical scheme
How do good men become part of the regime
They don’t believe in resistance.

Hold fast like an anchor in the storm
We will not be moved

Lesson number one, overcome
Every fear of regret and confusion
It’s all illusion, delusion
Sent to disconnect the holy fusion
Of spirit and the flesh
Every mortal breath, is meant to bring forth fire
But only when the fear of death, gets consumed
On the funeral pier
So let the flames rise higher
Let every man be considered a liar
If he doubts the goodness and faithfulness of God
Itching ears will compulsively nod in approval
When unbelief is taught in all our temples and schools
But God can restrain the madness of a fool
He can bring His truth through the mouth of a mule
You can move an mountain without any tools
It just takes the faith of a little seed
to make a way through what might seem to be
Impossibility,
And the ability will match the occasion
The outcome will defy explanation
The liberation will not be televised
When it arrives like lightning in the skies

Hold fast like an anchor in the storm
For your love, we will rise and overcome
Through the fire

Hold fast my people and sing
Through peace and through suffering
All for the joy that it brings, to be free
It’s gonna cost us everything
To follow one Lord and King
True love endure everything
To be free

Hold fast, like an anchor in the storm
We will not be moved

The resistance.

“And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ ONCE FOR ALL.’… This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws on their hearts, and write them on their minds,’ then He adds, ‘I will remember their sins and their lawless deed NO more.’… Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. …Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of ENDURANCE, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.” Hebrews 10:10,16-17,23,35-36

A wise person once said, “A bible that is falling apart, belongs to a person that isn’t.”

Thought I should just start out with that… And I think I should also say that the following is girls, women, ladies, but if you are a guy… Feel free to read. Please read actually.

So ya know how I am now an avid reader? Yes… I have about five books started.
“Sit. Walk. Stand.” – Watchman Nee
“The Kneeling Christian” – An Unknown Christian
“Quest for Love” – Elisabeth Elliot
“Pilgrim’s Progress” – John Bunyan
And then… My Bible. (Where I just started Mark.)

Today, I was lucky to be able to sit and read, read, and read even more. I have been really into “Quest for Love” these last few days. I have been wanting to read this book since 9th or 10th grade, so I am glad that four years later I got to it.
The rest of this post may be super confusing and all over the place, but I am basically just typing up bits and pieces of some things that really stuck out to me while reading…

“The man is the hunter and provider, and it’s so wonderful to be able to just rest and leave it on the altar, not having to d0 anything but seek God and respond.”

“Worldly friendship (with the opposite gender) confuses the judgement. … Holy friendship has a clear light and does not seek to hide itself, appearing willingly before good men. … A virtuous woman will close her ears to the voice of the charmer who seeks to enchant her: but if she hearken to him, what an ominous sign it is of the future loss of her heart!”

Proverbs 2:1-5.  PLEASE go look it up!

“Wives should submit to their husbands in EVERYTHING.” – Go read Ephesians 5:23-24.

Wait on God. Let God lead.

Talking about Adam and Eve…
” She was made for the man.
She was made literally from the man.
She was brought to the man.
She was named by the man.
Was she not ‘equal’ to the man? Yes – in three specific ways:
Both were made by God.
Both were made in the image of God.
Both were placed under moral responsibility.”
(Is it not awesome to see how ALL of those things still apply to relationships and marriages now?)

“She was made to be his helper, comforter, lover.
He was made to initiate, she to respond.”

“When people stop believing in God they don’t start believing in nothing – they’ll believe in anything” – G.K. Chesterton

“If we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.” Romans 8: 25

Also, GO and read Romans 5:5. A dear friend sent it to me today and it blessed me immensely.

“A pure heart is a single heart, not divided. A pure heart is what God wills, no matter what the cost. Strength of will is to will against oneself, to say, ‘Not my will – Thine.'”

“This love of which I speak is slow to lose patience – it looks for a way of being constructive. It is not possessive: it is neither anxious to impress nor does it cherish inflated ideas of its own importance. Love has good manners and does not pursue selfish advantage. It is not touchy. It does not keep account of evil or gloat over the wickedness of other people. On the contrary, it is glad with all good men when truth prevails. Love knows no limit to its endurance, no end to its trust, no fading of its hope; it can outlast anything. It is, in fact, the ONE thing that still STANDS when ALL else has FALLEN.” (Phillips – 1 Corinthians 13:4-8)

“We are called to live by faith. Everything that happens, God’s Word tells us, fits into a pattern for good to those who love Him. The more intimately we walk with Him, the more faithfully we trust His promises and keep His commandments, the simpler and the happier we will be. Life will ‘uncomplicate’ itself.”

Are YOU “willing to WAIT on God AND TRUST Him”?

To end this post, I’d like to add one last thing from “The Kneeling Christian”…
“What is prayer? … Prayer is an offering up of our desires unto God for things agreeable to His will, in the name of Christ, with confession of our sins and thankful acknowledgement of His mercies. … The word ‘prayer’ really means ‘a wish directed toward,’ that is, toward God. All that true prayer seeks is God Himself, for with Him we get all we need. Prayer is simply the ‘turning of the soul to God.'”

Hope this was encouraging and that there was at least one thing in there that stuck out to you and blessed your heart.

Please be praying for me as I leave in a few day for Coatesville!!! Pray that I am used as God’s hands and feet and fully serve for Him!!!

Powerful Prayer Life.

7 Jun

“Why are many Christians so often defeated? Because they pray so little. Why are many church-workers so often discouraged and disheartened? Because they pray so little. Why do most men see so be brought “out of darkness to light” by their ministry? Because they pray so little. Why are not our churches simply on fire for God? Because there is so little real prayer. The Lord is as powerful today as ever before. The Lord Jesus is anxious for men to be saved as ever before. His arm is not shortened that it cannot save, but He cannot stretch forth His arm unless we pray more – and more. We may be assured of this: the secret of all failure is our failure in secret prayer.”

(Excerpt from the book, “The Kneeling Christian”)

a talk around the woods.

People talk about nonsense, People do nonsensical things, and People think about nonsense… But when talking, doing, and thinking about those things, are they really worth anything in our lives? Is there a point to talk about nonsensical things? Is there a point to do nonsensical things? Is there a point to think nonsensical things? Don’t get me wrong, there are things in my life that are a bunch of nonsense, but where does the nonsense become too much?

I’ve been reading my friend from Montana’s blog, and he has been going out and sharing God’s love with everyone he meets. (Check out his blog and be encouraged! http://www.chris24eph.wordpress.com) Why are we so afraid to go out? God SENT His Son, to DIE, so we could LIVE. He didn’t have to send His son. I know I wouldn’t have.

So that is the first thing that has been getting me hype lately… The second is this. “You REAP what you SOW.”

The dictionary says this…

“Reap: –verb (used with object)

1. to cut (wheat, rye, etc.) with a sickle or other implement or a machine, as in harvest.
2. to gather or take (a crop, harvest, etc.).
3. to get as a return, recompense, or result: to reap large profits.”
“Sow: –verb (used with object)

1. to scatter (seed) over land, earth, etc., for growth; plant.
2. to plant seed for: to sow a crop.
3.to scatter seed over (land, earth, etc.) for the purpose of growth.”
Say that I plant (or in the case, sow) sunflower seeds… Ya know what’s going to pop up (reap)? No, not tulips. Sunflowers will.
Say that you have a ton of dandelions (when they’re in their wish form) and you blow it and the seeds disperse all over your yard. Ya know what is going grow? No, not any type of flower, but your weed will!
That’s the same thing with our lives… We live our lives trying to be “good people”, but guess what. NONE of us are “good people”. I’m actually AWFUL, but I have been bought by the Lord. He died for us. (Many of you that are reading this know that). But, what are we doing about that fact? What am I doing about that? It’s not something small. He has given me a life to live. He has given me a crazy family, some great friends, a wonderful boyfriend, many spectacular pastors/leaders, and an awesome church to be apart of and fellowship with… So, again, what on earth am I doing?
I am involved in college & career, I help in the bookstore, I work in Coatesville, etc., but if my heart is not genuinely in each ministry, then what’s the point? I can “plant” and “sow” in each of those ministries, and I mean, it might help others, but what gain is that for my heart and good is it for my walk with the Lord.
Wow… I feel like I’ve taken that on a whole other route. Basically, what I was trying to say is… Don’t waste your life. What you reap IS what you are going to sow. What do you want to sow? What do you want people to see in you? Do you want to be seen as insert name here or do you want to be seen and known as insert name here, someone who loves the Lord and wants to do ANYTHING they can to be used as an instrument to further His kingdom?
Lastly (well maybe), I’ve started this whole new venture of my life. It’s called: “BECOME AN AVID READER!!!!”
So, I started to read. The other day, I just felt like reading through the book of Ephesians. After reading it, I realized that in the beginning of the book, I wrote three words. Sit, Walk, Stand. Not knowing what that was for, I continued on with life. Then, as I organized books in the bookstore, I came across a book titled “Sit, Walk, Stand” by Watchman Nee. After reading the back and seeing that it was all about the book of Ephesians, I bought it, took it home, and started to read it.
Chapter one was all about the word “SIT”. It was about how we should just be sitting and waiting. It was even more about how we need to REST in the Lord. Seriously, reading that first chapter was everything that I needed to see and needed to read. We are such humans, who think we can conquer the world and that we can do it all on our own… But guess what. WE CAN’T! We can not do anything on our own. We need to be resting in the Lord who knows our days and our future and us, better than we know and will ever know! Once we give Him that surrendering and that rest, He will use it.
So anyways, in the first chapter, he talked about God creating the earth. On day six, God created Adam (man). On day seven, God rested. Is it not ironic that Adam’s first day on earth was a day of rest? God wants us to rest! Why is it so difficult though? O right, because we are imperfect humans who can not do a thing on our own, but can only do things through Christ, who we have a hard time trusting fully in and resting in. Yes, it is certainly ironic.
After 900 words and a rambling of thoughts, I hope it somehow encouraged you and challenged you. If not, please just pray that the Lord continues to stir up my heart and that I allow Him to capture all of my heart to serve Him!
My prayer is that I live my life fully for Him and show this world what they are missing. My prayer is that everything I sow, I sow in the Lord’s name. My prayer is that I rest completely in the Lord and that I trust in Him for my everything. My prayer is that you too make these prayers your prayers.

The Time Is NOT Now.

29 May

I read this today on another site and thought I’d share it with everyone. It’s something that the Lord has been telling me to do and that I have been realizing that I need to do. God is SO good and KNOWS what is going to come about with our lives. Why do we not wait for His plan? Ugh… Cause we are dumb humans.

“God has an appointed time to answer our prayers and to bring our dreams to pass. Because we don’t understand God’s timing, we live upset and frustrated, wondering when God is going to do something. When you understand God’s timing however, you won’t live all stressed out. You can relax knowing that God is in control, and at the perfect time, He is going to make it happen. The scripture says, “The vision is for the appointed time, Through it tarry, wait earnestly for it, for it will come to pass.”

The key is how are we going to wait? What will our physical, emotional and spiritual demeanor be? Are we going to wait with a good attitude and expectancy, knowing that God has great things in store? Or, are we going to be upset, frustrated, and muttering complaints? Consider this: If you know you have to wait anyway, why not make a decision to enjoy your life while you are waiting? Why not be happy while God is in the process of changing things? We might as well relax and enjoy our lives, knowing that at the appointed time, God is going to bring His plan to pass.

When you are truly living by faith, you can relax in what the Bible calls the “rest” of God. That’s a place where you’re not worried, you’re not struggling, you’re not trying to figure everything out, wondering why something is or isn’t happening. The “rest” of God is a place of total trust. When you’re in God’s rest, you know that at the perfect time, God is going to perform everything He promised: He will bring it into being.

Understand, God is at work in your life whether you can see anything happening externally or not. God often works the most when we see it and feel it the least. If you’re not seeing God move in your life right now, one of two possibilities can be considered. Either your requests are not God’s best, and will probably not be answered the way you’d like, or it must not be the right time. If God were to answer that prayer the way you were hoping, it could interfere with His ideal plan for you.

We don’t always understand God’s methods. His ways don’t always make sense to us, but we have to realize that God sees the big picture. Consider this possibility: You may be ready for what God has in store for you, but somebody else who is going to be involved isn’t ready yet. God has to do a work in another person or another situation before your prayer can be answered according to God’s will in your life. All the pieces have to come together for it to be God’s perfect time. When it’s the appointed time, no man can keep it from happening. When it’s your due season, God will bring it to pass.

Learn to trust His timing. Let God do it His way. When we try to force open doors and make things happen in our own strength, the end result is a constant strain on us and a drain on our resources. Life becomes a struggle. Nearly all joy, peace and victory dwindle from our existence.

Be careful! If God isn’t in what you are doing, you need to make a change. Here is where many people miss out on God’s favor. They know God has spoken to them; He has placed a dream within their hearts. But then they set out trying to fulfill God’s plan on their own. We must be aware that if we get out of God’s timing, it’s the same as getting out of God’s will. We need to be patient and let God bring His plan together at the appointed time. That is not to say that we should sit back passively and expect God to do everything. No, we must aggressively pursue our dreams. But if a door is not opening, don’t try to make things happen in your own strength.

On the other hand, if you’re in God’s timing, you can be in the midst of the biggest challenge of your life, and you’ll still be filled with joy. God will give you all the grace you need. If you will learn to trust God’s timing, He’s promised that at the right time, He will bring your dreams to pass and answer your prayers. The answer will come, and it will be right on time.”
